Acrylic paint is best suited to portraits, I enjoy using it when I am painting animals and human portraits. Colors can be bolder, it can be painted larger, and it can be painted on both paper and canvas so it is easy to display.

Watercolor is a great medium to use for portraits. The colors are softer and more blended. Watercolor portraits are always painted on paper so a frame would be needed to display them.

Ink is a great medium for smaller images. I use it when I illustrate books because I can get bright consistent colors. I also use it when I am making someone a card or a little lunch box note for my kiddos. These portraits are always on paper so a frame would be needed to display them.
